According to information provided by the Superintendency of Securities, up to December 31, 1997, there were 235 Foreign Capital Investment Funds authorized to invest in the Colombian Stock Markets in an amount up to US$6.000 million.

During 1997, the investments of said Funds increased considerably, taking into account that those in fixed income securities escalated from US$44.9 millions to US$375.4 million, which is the equivalent to a raise of 830%. The value of the portfolio in U.S. dollars of the aforementioned funds, in shares of Colombian companies issued through the various forms of the mechanisms of DR's (ADR,GDR), closed the year at US$519 million.

Also, the investments of Foreign Capital Investment Funds in shares of Colombian companies went up 38.31% closing the year with a total registered investment of $1.51 billion Colombian pesos.
