Beginning January 1, 2020, the International Newcomers (IN) Amsterdam will significantly increase its application fees by 20%.

Foreign nationals who live in the Amsterdam region or whose employer is based there can use the IN Amsterdam as a central location to complete both their town hall registration and in-country immigration processes such as submitting biometric data and collecting their residence endorsement sticker and/or permit.
A closer look
Details of the new fees include the following:
- Fees charged for all children. The IN Amsterdam will now charge government fees for each child included in an application. Currently, fees are only charged for the first two children.
- New businesses. New businesses will have to pay service fees during their first year in the Amsterdam Area, or for their first ten employee applications (whichever occurs first). Previously, they were excluded from paying these fees.
- Fee increases. The
new fees are as follows and will be reviewed annually:

Impact for foreign nationals
- Increased expenses for families. Since the IN Amsterdam will now charge fees for each child, it will become more expensive for foreign nationals with families to apply to live and work in the Netherlands.
- Alternative options. Foreign nationals can complete the immigration formalities at an immigration office and separately complete registration formalities through a general municipal location where they will not need to pay a fee; however, they will have to attend multiple appointments and wait times are lengthy.
Looking ahead
