As per the circular issued by Sultanate of Oman Ministry of
Commerce & Industry, the Directorate General of Commerce
requires that trademark owners accomplish the procedures regarding
renewals of trademarks filed before the Omani Trademark Office
within 60 (sixty) days as of the announcement of the mentioned
circular, August 05, 2019.
In case the trademark owners having applications before the
Omani Trademark Office do not comply with the issued circular in
due time, those trademarks will be considered as cancelled pursuant
to the section (19/3) from the Executive Regulations of the
Trademark Act of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States
of the Gulf promulgated by the Royal Decree No. 33/2017.
Although the circular only talks about the trademark renewals
kindly be informed that it covers any pending
applications/registrations/renewals in Oman which is verbally
mentioned by the Omani Trademark Office.
In that regard, we recommend our clients having trademark
applications/registrations/renewals in Oman take necessary
action(s) as soon as possible not to be affected from possible
cancellations.
