LDC, the private equity firm, has invested in Solid Solutions, the Warwickshire-based provider of 3D computer aided design software, support and training to thousands of engineers, designers and manufacturing companies across the UK and Ireland.

The investment will be used to deliver the next stage of Solid Solutions' ambitious growth strategy - both organically and via complementary acquisitions. The investment will also allow Solid Solutions to roll-out new services and products, strengthening its position as the UK and Ireland's leading SOLIDWORKS reseller.

As part of the deal, Solid Solutions' existing backer, BGF, has exited its minority stake held since its initial investment in 2016.

The transaction was led by LDC's Rob Schofield, Richard Whitwell and Lawrence Dean.

The Gowling WLG team was led by corporate partner Chris Towle, supported by senior associate Chris Letters and associate Grace Humber. Legal director Navin Prabhakar led on the banking piece, with support from senior associate Richard Crawley and associate Sarina Mann. Transaction Services specialists Greg Dunn and Mel Mapstone coordinated a multi-disciplinary legal due diligence exercise. Partner Zoe Fatchen, principal associate Tom Rank and associate Helen Hibbert advised on tax.

The deal is testament to Gowling WLG's experience advising private equity investors on a full range of matters on the life cycle of an investment, combining technical excellence with in-depth market knowledge.
