Ogier's Luxembourg team has advised Portuguese energy company EDP on the €2.7 billion acquisition of a significant stake in electricity distributor Viesgo from Macquarie-managed funds.

Ogier advised on the Luxembourg aspects of the transaction alongside King & Wood Mallesons.

EDP has reached an agreement with the Australian fund Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (Europe) Limited for the integration of its Spanish electricity distribution businesses, Viesgo Distribución and Begasa, which were both owned by Macquarie and E-Networks.

Ogier's team was led by partners Bertrand Geradin and William Jean-Baptiste and supported by senior associates Sandra Mohand-Oussaid and Eléonore Galleron and associate Sinead Manion. They provided legal and tax assistance on the Luxembourg aspects of the transaction.
