During the most recent hearing between the township planning board and the United Sportsmen's Association of North America's local gun club, it was the public's turn to offer insight into operations at the club.
Residents who live near the club and members of USANA testified both in favor and against the club on Tuesday during a hearing over USANA's pending application to the township, which requests that the club be permitted to resume normal operations.
In total, around ten residents testified against the club, most reiterating that activity and noise at the club had greatly increased over the years.
Members of USANA were also given an opportunity to speak during the hearing. They testified that the club was one of the safest in the region, and provided a secure location for the public to learn how to handle a firearm.
During the hearing, USANA attorney Joel Ferdinand provided his closing remarks to the board, explaining that USANA has provided sufficient evidence to show that the club operated lawfully and in a consistent way since the club came to Pittsgrove.
