The Minister of Communications and Informatics has issued Regulation No. 18 of 2014 on The Certification of Telecommunication Devices and Equipment. This regulation has been in force since 27 June 2014.

All telecommunications devices and equipment that are produced, assembled, and imported in and to Indonesia for commercial purposes uses, must satisfy the prevailing technical requirements including a Telecommunications Devices and Equipment certificate. The regulation excludes the application of the certification procedure to such telecommunications equipment as telecommunications equipment for personal use which were carried in the passenger's baggage or postal couriered, for research and development purposes, for military use, diplomatic telecommunications equipment and measuring instruments.

The certificate remains valid for 3 years with a one-time extension; following this, a fresh application for a new certificate must be applied for. Holders of a certificate must affix a label on the packaging of their Telecommunications Devices and Equipment with the certificate number and identity of the certificate holder. Violations to this regulation may lead to administrative sanctions and/or certificate revocation.
