May 9, 2019 – More spouses are to be eligible for Canada work permits through the Atlantic Immigration Pilot under a change to come into force on June 1.

The changes sees spouses of candidates in Canada on work permits through the Atlantic Intermediate Skilled Program eligible for work permits for the first time.

Previously, only the spouses of Atlantic High Skilled Program candidates were eligible for a Canada work permit.

"This change supports the Atlantic Immigration Pilot's goal to ensure newcomers who have come here, stay here," said a statement from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
