Green finance in Guernsey has received a significant boost today with the support of £300,000 of funding from the States of Guernsey.

Guernsey made a strategic commitment to green finance within the Financial Services Policy Framework in 2018, and the formation of Guernsey Green Finance, which is a member of the United Nations' Financial Centres for Sustainability (FC4S) network, alongside many of the world's leading financial centres.

Guernsey Finance Chairman Lyndon Trott laid the original amendment to secure funding in the island's Budget debate which was unopposed.

"I am delighted that my fellow deputies have given unequivocal support to the proposal for dedicated funding to support green finance," he said.

"Guernsey Green Finance has already made huge progress over the past year and I am excited at the possibilities there are to develop this area, and to make a significant contribution to climate finance on a global level."
