On 11 July 2012 the ACMA confirmed that it will register the revised Telecommunications Consumer Protections Code (C628:2012) ("New Code").

The New Code heralds significant changes to requirements imposed on telecommunications service providers in areas such as complaint handling, credit management, customer service, billing content and advertising, as well as ensuring effective compliance programs.

Importantly, the New Code will take effect from 1 September 2012, although there are grace periods for some obligations.
