Welcome to our third issue of Intellectual Property and Technology News – Asia Pacific for 2012. In this issue, we discuss some of the key issues to consider when taking your business online, as well as the need to ensure that a regional approach is adopted when developing a privacy compliance regime for your business. We also highlight some recent data privacy incidents resulting from data collected by apps and the issues which businesses need to be aware of when they enter the app universe.

Recent months have also seen developments in issues previously reported on – Singtel Optus' TV Now appeal has been denied by the High Court in Australia, which has also rejected a challenge by 'big tobacco' to Australia's proposed tobacco plain packaging laws. Singapore's 'Lemon Laws' are now in effect, China's patent system is again under the spotlight and Australia's media content rules may be in for an overhaul before the end of the year.

As always, we hope you enjoy this issue and encourage your feedback and comments!
