Following the global financial crisis, transport industries faced difficult challenges and we conducted a survey in 2009 to ascertain the views of industry participants on the anticipated effects of the recession. In 2010 we revisited many of the main trends highlighted by our transport survey in 2009, to examine whether these trends continued and how businesses in the transport sector were preparing for the foreseeable future.

In 2012 we set out three themes: the last three years, finance and what the future holds. This allowed us to look back to 2008 when the recession started, reflecting on the changes that have taken place since then and looking to the future focusing on opportunities on the horizon.

The Fourth Way Ahead Transport Survey

Welcome to our fourth annual Way Ahead Transport Survey. Each year we try to move the survey on to reflect what is happening across the aviation, rail and shipping industries, with a view to getting a relevant indication of the current thinking of participants in those industries.

If you have responded to our previous surveys, thank you and welcome back. If this is your first, we hope you will find the exercise interesting. Our first three surveys were widely picked up in national and international media and we thank all our participants for their contribution to that recognition.
