On May 2, a state judge from the State of Sergipe granted a
preliminary injunction ordering a 72-hour suspension of WhatsApp
(source document in Portuguese) in order for law enforcement to
obtain information regarding organized crime and drug trafficking
allegations. The suspension lasted only 24 hours (source document in
Portuguese) because WhatsApp filed an appeal with Sergipe's
Court of Appeals, which vacated the order.
