There are many options for candidates looking to apply for Canada permanent residence from the USA, as President Donald Trump continues to push his anti-immigration agenda during the coronavirus pandemic.
Trump is targeting a second term in the US presidential election in November, and, should he win, the Republican president is only likely to continue his immigration crackdown.
Canada has itself been forced to limit immigration during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the signs are that as soon as it is practically and economically viable to do so, the steady stream of new permanent residents will return.
In an immigration levels plan released just before the pandemic took grip in Canada, the federal government announced its plan to welcome up to more than 1.1 million new permanent residents between now and 2022. While the coronavirus recovery seems likely to affect these numbers, there will clearly remain many opportunities to immigrate to Canada in the near future.
