An article released today in The Independent reported a 5 year-old boy had been detained in Dulles International airport in Washington, D.C. because he posed a "security risk".

Following Trump's immigration order which you can read about here, he and his mother were among more than 100 people who were detained. His mother is Iranian while he is a US citizen. His mother had flown on a different flight with another family and had been waiting for her son to be released.

When they were reunited, she sang him "happy birthday" as everyone watched and cheered.

Even a Democrat, Mr. Van Hollen expressed his outrage on this incident through Twitter:

Furthermore, multiple lawsuits have been filed and refugee groups worldwide have condemned the move as unethical and a breach of international and US law.

Once the ban is lifted and refugee admissions resume the cap will have changed from what Obama had set in 2016. In 2016, Obama set the cap at 85,000 people. Trump's order states that the amount of refugees permitted will now be set at 50,000 for 2017.

This will not be the first and not the last we hear of immigrants or even U.S. citizens being detained during this ban, however, this was definitely the most outrageous one yet.
