When it comes to our social and environmental impacts and engaging with the local community, we take our responsibilities seriously. Selecting projects that build relationships and leave a lasting legacy is part of the Ocorian culture.
In April we were delighted to donate two sums of $5,000 and one of $1,000 from one of our charitable trusts to the Cayman Food Bank, Cayman's Acts of Random Kindness charity and the Sir John A. Cumber Primary School, respectively. Further to this, in May and June we donated a further two sums of $5,000 to Cayman's Acts or Random Kindness as it continues its drive to raise funds to keep people fed and sheltered in Cayman's communities. In June, we also donated $5,000 to Cayman Islands Humane Society.
Cayman Food Bank
Despite being one of the Caribbean's wealthiest regions, hunger, malnutrition and poverty still exists in the Cayman Islands and has been exacerbated by the current economic situation brought about by Covid-19. By providing financial support to the Cayman Food Bank, it can continue the exceptional work it does in gathering and distributing food donations to non-profit social services, enabling them to provide much needed food aid to Grand Cayman's low-income families. Acts of Random Kindness
Acts of Random Kindness is charity that supports families with food, shelter and clothing as needed, quietly doing a phenomenal job for those desperately in need.
Our June donation was particularly noteworthy as it contributed to the fundraising efforts of three local 12-year-old boys, who kite surfed for 22 miles each (the entire length of Cayman Islands) to raise money for ARK. Well done boys!
Cayman Islands Humane Society
As a result of Covid-19, there was a spike in the number of abandoned pets across Cayman Islands. Therefore we thought it necessary to donate to Cayman Islands Humane Society, who do excellent work providing shelter, care and attention to all unwanted companion animals, and seek out responsible, loving homes for them.
Sir John A. Cumber Primary School
Our donation of $1,000 was well received at the Sir John A. Cumber Primary School in Cayman Islands, with principal Mrs Jovanna Wright and her colleagues pictured packing care boxes due for delivery to local families in need.
