Guernsey's proximity to Lloyd's and the London insurance market is of great importance to the Island's continuing growth as one of the world's leading international insurance centres.
John Darwood, Senior Adviser at the Commission's Insurance Division, says: 'It is a great help that visits between Guernsey and London can be organised with door-to-door times of not much more than two hours using scheduled air services to and from Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted. There is a convenient air-rail link, too, between Guernsey and Southampton airports and London's Victoria Station.' He adds: 'We also have a 27m. high-speed, ro'ro' car ferry operating year-round daily scheduled services to and from Poole, Dorset, with a Channel crossing time of only two and half hours.'
