The Financial Services Commission regards co-operation with regulators in other territories to combat international financial crime as a important part of its supervisory functions.

Fundamental to this role is that of ensuring that international financial business conducted from Guernsey is undertaken by fit and proper persons with proven track records and adequate financial resources.

In addition, the Commission has good working supervisory relationships with financial authorities in many parts of the world and among those to have made familiarisation visits to the Island are Ron Ranochak, of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and Stanley Morris, Director of the Financial Crime Enforcement Network (FinCEN), the arm of the US Treasury designated to fight money laundering.
