The Hong Kong judiciary intends to equip its court rooms with additional technology in 1996, in order to improve efficiency.
The new measures are aimed at improving processing time and reducing costs.
The proposed measures to be introduced include:-
- a computerised audio recording and transcription service in order to relieve judges, magistrates and other judicial officers of the need to take hand written notes of the proceedings, and therefore speed up events;
- an electronic court diary to enhance flexibility in scheduling trials and to maximise courtroom utilisation;
- modernising all courtrooms facilities with audiovisual equipment and electronic security systems.
