On July 10, the Mexico City government issued a notice in the Official Gazette, informing that the audiovisual industry may return to activities, with certain restrictions.

It states that the maximum capacity shall be 30 people during filming in open spaces (outdoors) and 10 people in closed spaces (indoors). Similarly, productions must comply with all the protection guidelines issued by the capital's government regarding health issues.

Thus, as of July 13, 2020, the Mexico City Film Commission will resume operations, essentially, with the following rules

  • Hours of service will be from 10:00 to 16:00, Monday through Friday.
  • Remote work will be encouraged. Therefore, the process of applying for film permits must start online, and then an appointment will be made at the office for the physical delivery of the documents.
  • Permits will be granted for a maximum of 3 locations, at the consideration of the authority and as long as it is not near previously granted locations.
  • Any meeting or presentation of projects with the Authority must be by videoconference.

The present reactivation of the audiovisual industry will serve mainly for publicity projects, as the size of crew will have to be at a minimum.
