On December 29th, 2014, the National Commission of Minimum Wages ("CONASAMI" for its acronym in Spanish) published in the Federal Official Gazette ("DOF" for its acronym in Spanish) the resolution by means of which it establishes the general and professional minimum wages effective as of January 1st, 2015.

The CONASAMI maintained the current division and integration of geographic areas "A" and "B", committing to analyze and evaluate the possibility of establishing a sole minimum wage for the whole Mexican Republic and establish the strategy and schedule for its applicability.

In the meantime, they provided a general rise in the minimum wages of both geographic areas, equivalent to four point two percent (4.2%). Accordingly, the new general minimum wages that will govern starting January 1st, 2015, are the following:

Geographic Area "A" $70.10 pesos per day
Geographic Area "B" $66.45 pesos per day

In the same way, CONASAMI agreed to maintain the same descriptions and activities for the "List of Professions, Occupations and Special Works" and increase the professional minimum wage in the same proportion as the general minimum wage (4.2%). The full list of the professional minimum wages that will govern from January 1st, 2015, is available in the following link:

Additionally, CONASAMI agreed to create the "Advisory Commission for Gradual and Sustained Recovery of the General and Professional Minimum Wage", whose main purpose is to propose the bases of a wage policy that makes possible the recovery of the minimum wages once the Legislative Power decides to disassociate the minimum wage as a reference measurement unit. The activities of the Advisory Commission must conclude on April, 2015.
