On January 30, 2015, the Treasury Department announced the temporary suspension of the invitation to tender bids for the Mexico-Queretaro high speed train project and the final cancellation of Yucatan-Quintana Roo transpeninsular train project as part of the adjustment to the 2015 government expenditures.

Gerardo Ruiz-Esparza, Secretary of Communications and Transportation, said that the Communications and Transportation Department supports the government's decision, and confirms that the Mexico-Queretaro train is suspended but not canceled.

The temporary suspension of the invitation is due to the pressure that the project may cause to the government expenditures for the next years, as it was scheduled in the 2015, 2016 and 2017 budget.
