On December 18, 2015, the National Commission on Minimum Wages ("Comisión Nacional de los Salarios Mínimos" or CONASAMI ) approved a general minimum wage increase of 4.2%, effective January 1, 2016.

The wage increase will raise the general minimum wage from $70.10 Mexican pesos per day (currently, approximately $4.08 USD) to $73.04 Mexican pesos per day (currently, approximately $4.25 USD). Besides publishing the increase to the general minimum wage, CONASAMI published the new minimum wage for various occupations and industries. CONASAMI's list of all new minimum wages can be accessed by clicking here.

Employers should review their payroll practices and implement any required changes to comply with this wage adjustment.
