Portugal: The Immigration And Borders Services (SEF) Suspends Its Appointments

In light of the global epidemiological situation and, in particular, the increasing cases of infection in Portugal, generated by the COVID 19 virus, the Portuguese Council of Ministers, Internal Affairs, Labor, Solidarity and Social Security and Health, have approved the Order no. 3863-B/2020 of March 27^th in order to manage the pending schedules before SEF.

In fact, this order provides that all scheduled appointments until March 27^th, 2020 are now suspended.

According to this order, SEF shall proceed to the block rescheduling of all the appointments that were scheduled until March 27^th, 2020, from July 1^st, 2020, in chronological order, ensuring equal treatment between foreign citizens.

Finally, and without prejudice to the above, this order allows urgent appointments to be made when the applicant proves, namely, that he needs to leave national territory due to an urgent need, as well as in cases the applicant's documents are stolen or lost.
