As co-head of Proskauer’s Private Investment Funds group – one of the Firm’s largest practices – Monica is one of the most coveted private investment fund attorneys in the country. She represents global asset managers across the full spectrum of investment fund matters, from large investment firms to start-ups. Over the course of her career, she has led billion dollar fundraises and transactions for some of the most prominent names in the asset management industry. In addition to her role with the Private Investment Funds group, Monica has held several leadership roles throughout the Firm, including with the Women’s Sponsorship Program, Mentoring Circle Program, Hiring & Promotions Committees and the Diversity Task Force, where she has championed diverse attorneys and reinforced DEI as a priority for Proskauer. Monica is also a board member of Her Justice, a non-profit providing legal services to women in poverty.
Bart serves chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department and head of the Los Angeles office. He is a renowned trial lawyer known for his legal acumen, meticulous approach and persuasive advocacy. Bart has extensive experience in commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense and corporate investigations and excels in guiding Fortune 500 companies through complex litigation crises and trying their most important cases before juries and judges. He is frequently called in just months or even weeks before a trial to deliver a win. His cutting-edge legal work regularly impacts and set precedents across industries. Most recently, Bart served as lead trial counsel for Gilead Sciences, securing a significant victory in a $3.6 billion antitrust case on allegations that the pharmaceutical company struck an anticompetitive "pay-for-delay" patent settlement related to two HIV medications.
Forbes’ inaugural list of the Top 200 Lawyers in America was created by an editorial team with broad experience in law practice and the legal marketplace. Lawyers were selected based on interviews with industry insiders, outside nominations, editorial research and an independent, five-person advisory board of experts. To qualify for consideration, lawyers were required to be active and licensed.
