The Government of Alberta has appointed Erin Runnalls, a partner in the firm's Calgary office, to the prestigious King's Counsel. This appointment is a testament to Erin's exceptional legal knowledge, dedication to the profession, and significant contributions to the legal community in Alberta and beyond.

"The King's Counsel designation is a prized distinction within the Canadian justice system. By making positive contributions to the profession, these honourees represent the legal profession at its best," said Mickey Amery, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Alberta, in a recent press release.

Erin, a highly respected civil litigator, focuses her practice on commercial litigation, health law, international arbitration, class actions, defamation, and constitutional and media law. Earlier this year, she was appointed Bencher of the Law Society of Alberta, following a previous term as Bencher in 2023. Prior to becoming a Bencher, Erin spent 12 years volunteering for numerous Law Society Committees.

Erin received a Distinguished Service Award for her pro bono work from the Law Society of Alberta and the Canadian Bar Association in 2013, as well as a Pro Bono Service Award from Pro Bono Law Alberta in 2016. In 2022, she was named a "Lawyer to Watch" in the area of corporate commercial litigation in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and in 2021 she was named among Lexpert's "Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40."
