The International Arbitration practice of global law firm K&L Gates LLP has been ranked among the world's 100 leading arbitration practices (GAR 100) by Global Arbitration Review (GAR) magazine, one of the premier independent guides to international arbitration practices.

K&L Gates was ranked at number 40, however, the guide noted the firm's exceptional credentials and momentum this year, reporting that "had it had one more item in either the bet-the-company or large columns, it may well have made the top 30."

GAR highlighted some of K&L Gates' ongoing cases and recent achievements, including: advising Spain and Romania in four closely-watched appeals in the US courts over the enforcement of ICSID awards; representing Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CB&I) and subsidiaries in a multi-billion dollar ICC arbitration; acting for Mumbai-based pharmaceutical company Cipla in a US$400 million royalties dispute with a US pharmaceutical company; advising Ukraine's Ukrenergo in respect of matters relating to the war with Russia; and acting for Westinghouse Electric in a Seoul-seated arbitration arising from a dispute with its former partner Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) over the export of nuclear reactor technology.

Clients provided positive feedback of their experience working with K&L Gates' International Arbitration lawyers stating, "the team was responsive and able to fully understand the needs of the client" which led to the "most suitable and effective strategy to achieve their objectives."

Matthew Weldon, one of the leaders of K&L Gates' International Arbitration practice based in New York, stated: "We are extremely proud of our top-tier International Arbitration practice and that it continues to be recognized by GAR, through inclusion of our practice in GAR 100. The firm continues to receive more and more high-stakes instructions, including in the pharmaceutical and energy industries, and we believe it is now only a matter of time until K&L Gates' practice is consistently ranked in GAR 30."
