Zurich, 27 July 2022: Being part of something big is always special and so it is for CONVINUS. With the start of the CAS Global Mobility Management course on 26 August 2022 at the ZHAW, Friederike V. Ruch will take over the content of social security and tax law in the Expert Module. In our interview, Ms Ruch revealed how she has been teaching the sometimes rather dry and legal content in a practical way over several decades.

Ms Ruch, when was the last time you took part in a training course and on which topic?

I just attended a webinar on international labour law last week. In our profession, it is essential to keep up to date. I am therefore used to not only being a speaker, but also to sitting on the other side as a participant at least as often.

Which "speaker type" manages to capture your attention and impart new knowledge to you?

A person who can use simple words and practical examples to convey complicated contexts in an understandable way. I think a good lecturer is able to make complex content clear and understandable for the listener with clear, unpretentious communication. In my professional life, I have already gained one or two experiences and I feel the need to share them so that my listeners do not have to go through the same experiences and immediately choose the best way.

How will you ensure that participants can access your content in practice?

Through the intensive application of practical cases and the demonstration of solutions, with the associated pitfalls, but leaving the participants the space to work through the next steps themselves, in order to then work out the solution together. The last 25 years have shown me that a combination of theory and practice is essential.

What would you like to pass on to future CAS graduates?

Every case in the broad environment of Global Mobility is so individual in detail that one should not be afraid of it, but it helps to go through all the relevant points in a structured way and with checklists. If you get stuck, you can always seek support and you know the solution for the next "similar" situation. Moreover, an exchange is always enriching, and you don't lose any time in the fast-moving business.
