On 13 November 2017, the European Commission
(EC) published a consultation on institutional
investors and asset managers' duties regarding
sustainability. The consultation follows publication of an interim
report by the High Level Expert Group on sustainable finance in
July 2017, which recommended that the EC clarify that the fiduciary
duties of institutional investors and asset managers explicitly
integrate material environmental, social and governance factors and
long-term sustainability.
