We have received reports that the "SINCERITY ACE ", a 2009 built car carrier flying the Panamanian flag, has caught fire on the 31st December 2018. The vessel is about 1800 miles off Oahu and the master reportedly was considering abandoning the vessel. It is reported that four crew have already left the vessel and a number of merchant ships are moving towards the vessel. A Hercules plane was also dispatched.

We understand that international salvors are contracted, most likely on LOF terms. Salvage assets are being mobilised. It is likely that there will be claims for salvage and GA as well as recovery of PA losses. The claim for LOF salvage will be subject to English law and London arbitration.

If you would like assistance in dealing with any potential claims for salvage, GA and recovery of your losses, please do contact us.
