The FTC approved final settlement agreements (see here and here) with the former CEO of Cambridge Analytica, LLC ("Cambridge Analytica") and an app developer for using deceptive business practices to collect personal information from Facebook users.

As previously covered, app developer Aleksandr Kogan and former Cambridge Analytica CEO Alexander Nix were charged with using misleading tactics to procure "tens of millions" of Facebook users' personal information. The information was collected through the "GSRApp" application on Facebook commonly known as "thisisyourdigitallife." While Cambridge Analytica ostensibly obtained permission from users to harvest their data, the FTC concluded that the company's methods for doing so were "false and deceptive."
