The New Jersey Senate Labor Committee is scheduled to take up the pending "Ban the Box" legislation. The bill, formally known as "The Opportunity to Compete Act," would prohibit employers from requiring job applicants to disclose their criminal history and would also prohibit advertisements discouraging those with criminal records from applying.
