On May 8, 2020, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that the 2020 EEO-1 data collection period previously scheduled for later this year will be delayed until 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The EEOC currently expects that the data collection period will open in March 2021, but a precise date has not yet been announced.

EEO-1 surveys collect data regarding the demographic composition of employer workforces and must be filed by all private business with 100 or more workers, as well as some federal contractors. The EEOC had previously announced that the 2020 EEO-1 surveys would not collect additional data regarding employee pay. Barring an unexpected reversal by the EEOC, that will likely remain the case now that the 2020 collection period has been pushed to 2021.
