Update – NJ Assembly Environment Committee Approves Bill To Prevent Treatment Of Fracking Wastes

On the evening of June 14, the New Jersey Assembly and Solid Waste Committee approved A575. The bill is identical to S.253, which was passed by the New Jersey Senate Environment and Energy Committee on June 7. Both bills prohibit the treatment, discharge, disposal of, or storage, of wastewater, wastewater solids, sludge, drill cuttings, and other byproducts of hydraulic fracturing, in New Jersey.

With the approval of both committees, the bill will now move to the full legislature for consideration.
