At the end of 2011, Louisiana's 6.4 percent jobless rate was
down from the 6.5 percent November rate and the 7.2 percent figure
in December 2010. Louisiana has tied with Massachusetts and Montana
for the 16th lowest jobless rate in the nation and the
4th lowest in the Southern region. Louisiana Workforce
Commission Executive Director Curt Eysink remarked that 2011 was
marked by very consistent and solid job growth in Louisiana, all of
which took place in the private sector.
