I have blogged in the past about tech companies offering novel benefits to its female employees in an effort to retain them. In an apparent effort to counter continuing criticisms that tech firms are not friendly to women employees, Adobe has become the latest tech firm to increase the paid maternity and parental leave available to its employees to 26 weeks and 16 weeks, respectively, effective in November, 2015. IBM reportedly has developed a scheme to allow female employees who are nursing and traveling for work to express milk and ship it home.

Critics continue to take the position that some of the benefits are an inappropriate intrusion into employees' privacy. Only time will tell whether these efforts will result in the increased retention of women in tech.
