FTC Announces New Director For Office Of Policy Planning

The Federal Trade Commission ("FTC") named Bilal Sayyed as Director of the FTC
Office of Policy Planning. Mr. Sayyed returns to the FTC after
having previously served as an Attorney Advisor to the FTC Office
of Policy Planning and to Chairman Timothy J. Muris.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Sayyed was an antitrust counsel at
Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP. In his work, he represented
clients before the FTC and DOJ in merger, civil and criminal
antitrust matters, as well as in consumer protection
investigations. He also represented investment funds on antitrust
and Hart-Scott-Rodino Act compliance cases.
Before Cadwalader, Mr. Sayyed was a partner at McDermott Will
& Emery, and Kirkland & Ellis. In addition to his practice,
Mr. Sayyed teaches antitrust and competition law at the George
Mason University Antonin Scalia Law School.
