The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau ("CFPB") final rule relating to the disclosure of records and information was published in the Federal Register.

As previously covered, the final rule amends (i) procedures used by the public to access information from the CFPB under the Freedom of Information Act, the Privacy Act of 1974 and in legal proceedings, and (ii) the CFPB rule concerning the confidential treatment of information obtained from persons in connection with the exercise of CFPB authority under federal consumer financial law.

The final rule will become effective on October 12, 2018.
