Recently published research indicates that exposure to cosmetic talc is not associated with the development of pleural cancer/mesothelioma.

Researchers from Cardno ChemRisk have published an updated meta-analysis on the development of pleural mesothelioma in groups of people exposed to cosmetic-grade talc. The study considered new information on cohorts from Italy, Norway, Austria and France, with a total of over 100,000 person-years considered. The pooled analysis found no incidences of confirmed mesothelioma of the pleura in the group, whereas 7 would have been expected if there was a link between exposure to cosmetic-grade talc and the disease.
