A growing cybercrime economy has led DNB to choose cybercrime as one of its supervisory themes for 2012. The aim is to increase security levels and awareness at financial organisations with regard to cybercrime.

In 2010 DNB developed a self-assessment tool with regard to data security. DNB has concluded on the basis of these assessments that data security is not always up to standard. It has agreed concrete measures to improve data security with the organisations concerned. In addition, DNB has discussed the assessment outcomes with several organisations within the financial sector. This year, the number of organisations that DNB will assess will increase and the first follow-up assessments will be carried out to evaluate whether organisations have followed the measures agreed on earlier with DNB.
