On May 17, 2017, President Rafael Correa issued 16 executive decrees ordering the denunciation and termination of the Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs).

After the favorable ruling of the Constitutional Court and the Legislative Branch of denunciating the BITs (click here) , the Executive Branch ordered the denunciation and further notification of such decision to the other contracting States. With the notification of the denunciation to the other contracting States, the BITs will be terminated according to the process stated in each treaty.

The TBIs denunciated are with the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Peru, United Kingdom, United States, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Venezuela.
