The UAE recently passed a new regulation that requires online advertisers and influencers operating in the UAE to obtain a license from the government.

Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance UAE member Al Tamimi reports that it does not believe that the new regulation covers platforms that merely facilitate publication by third parties, such as Facebook or Instagram.

Since the National Media Council has given industry three months to become compliant, Al Tamimi advises that advertisers and influencers should become fully compliant by the first week of June 2018.

The National Media Council added a new resolution to their library this month, the ELECTRONIC MEDIA ACTIVITY REGULATION RESOLUTION 2018
