Pursuant to the Presidential Decree numbered 2019/368 published on the Official Gazette of November 2, 2019, and numbered 30936, the Presidency resolved that Birol Küle has been appointed to the Turkish Competition Board ("Board") as the Chairman.

Pursuant to the Presidential Decree numbered 2019/452 published on the Official Gazette of December 26, 2019, and numbered 30990, the Presidency resolved that Ayşe Ergezen has been appointed to the Board.

Pursuant to the Presidential Decree numbered 2021/255 published in the Official Gazette of May 27, 2021, and numbered 31493, the Presidency resolved that Cengiz Çolak has been appointed to the Board.

Pursuant to the Presidential Decree numbered 2022/73 published in the Official Gazette of February 26, 2022, and numbered 31762, the Presidency resolved that Berat Uzun has been appointed to the Board.

The appointment of the Board is important as in the circumstance of vacant positions the Board would be unable to adopt any decisions on any matter as the Board would lose the necessary meeting quorum and thus, final decisions concerning certain matters, including merger control decisions, pre-investigations and investigations, would be pending due to the Board's lack of quorum.

With the appointment by the Presidency, the Board is now composed of Birol Küle (Chairman), Ahmet Algan (Member), Hasan Hüseyin Ünlü (Member), Cengiz Çolak (Member), Ayşe Ergezen (member), Şükran Kodalak (Member) and Berat Uzun (Member). Brief background information on the newly appointed members is provided below:

Birol Küle is a graduate of Hacettepe University, Department of Economics and holds a master's degree in Banking and Finance from Bilgi University. From 1992, when he entered into professional life, to 2010, he worked at different participation banks, after which he took office at the Saving Deposit Insurance Fund as the Head of Collection Department. Following this position, he was appointed as a member to the Capital Markets Board, where he served as Deputy Chairman and Investor Compensation Center member.

Ayşe Ergezen started her career as a manager at Finansbank. Afterwards she set up her own business. During this time she was elected as a member to the Municipal Council in Ümraniye, İstanbul. In 2009, she was appointed as Advisor to the Prime Minister. She ran for a seat at the Parliament from the province of Balıkesir in June 2015 general elections. She has taken active roles in several non-governmental organizations. In March 2016, she was appointed as the Deputy Undersecretary (Acting) of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, where she continued to serve as the Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Services, having been appointed to that post on July 25, 2018. During her term, she coordinated and helped realize several works aimed at Families, Children, Women, Persons with Disabilities, Elderly, Relatives of Martyrs and Veterans, which constitute the cornerstones of the society.

Cengiz Çolak started his career in 1990 in the banking sector. In his 27 year banking career he held positions such as Head of Credit Operations, Head of Risk Tracking and Head of Administrative Services.
