Partner Jeff Scorgie will present Architects and Prompt Payment (Under the Ontario Construction Act): How Does This Affect Your Practice?, a webinar that will be hosted by the Ontario Association of Architects on Thursday, April 4th, 2024.

The discussion will focus on the prompt payment rules under Ontario’s Construction Act that were introduced in October 2019. Architects are both subject to, and can avail themselves of, the prompt payment provisions of the Act. Those unfamiliar with their rights and obligations inadvertently risk contravening the law or allowing their rights to expire.

Partner Jeff Scorgie will be the featured speaker during Architects and Adjudication (Under the Ontario Construction Act): How Does This Affect Your Practice?, an online session that will be offered by the Ontario Association of Architects on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

The session will focus on the adjudication process under Ontario’s Construction Act that was introduced in October 2019. Depending on the nature of what is being adjudicated, the Certificate of Practice holder, who may or may not be retained for construction phase services, may be requested by a party to an adjudication to provide an opinion about the intent of construction documents or their adequacy.

Partners Glenn Ackerley and Krista Chaytor will attend the Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA) 14th Construction Symposium on April 11th-12th, 2024.

Glenn and Krista will present during "The Construction Act: What's working and what's not working" on both Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th. The Attorney General recently announced a review of the Construction Act. The first phase will prioritize improvements. The second phase will include a consultation of proposed amendments. They will discuss the issues that have arisen since the modernization of the Construction Act in 2018 and what issues the industry can expect to be addressed with this new review.
