The Ukrainian Parliament adopted Law of Ukraine
"On Currency and Currency Transactions" (the
"Currency Law"). The Ukrainian Parliament adopted the Law of Ukraine "On Currency and Currency Transactions" (the "Currency Law"), aiming at substantially updating well-outdated Ukrainian currency control legislative framework. In particular, the Currency Law introduces "all is allowed, unless expressly forbidden" principle and cancels a number of old currency control laws and regulations. It is expected that the Currency Law will apply starting from 7 February 2019. Until then, the National Bank of Ukraine should substantially review existing currency control regulations and bring them in compliance with the Currency Law. On 3 July 2018 the Parliament of Ukraine adopted the bill "On Amendments to Certain Legal Acts of Ukraine on Resumption of Lending" aiming at tackling certain loopholes in Ukrainian laws, frequently used by debtors to avoid debt repayment.
