Stewarts has had a case listed in the Top 20 cases of the year by The Lawyer for the third year in a row.

Stewarts is acting for over 240 investors in a £100m claim against Ingenious Media, a British media investment group whose film/video game partnerships have been branded as tax avoidance schemes by HMRC.

The Lawyer says:

"The action centres on the claim that investors were 'assured these partnerships were entirely legitimate trading businesses seeking to make profit through financing films and video games'.

The decision from the First-tier Tax Tribunal in 2016 largely found in favour of HMRC and against Ingenious Media's film/video game investment partnerships.

While the main trial for this mammoth claim will not be heard until 2019, the first case management conference is listed for March of this year."

David Pickstone is leading the action for Stewarts, assisted by Senior Associates Lee Ellis and Darren Kidd.
