In the World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report for 2018, Nigeria's ranking rose from 169 to 145; Nigeria was amongst the 10 most improved economies in the world. This improvement was achieved by the collective efforts of both the private and public sectors, and by leveraging increasingly pervasive technology.

At a recent stakeholders' roundtable with His Excellency, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo, SAN, GCON, Perchstone & Graeys and Knowledge Resources Limited were given the mandate to work with stakeholders and the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) to birth suggestions to further enhance the ease of doing business in Nigeria. It is in this regard that this conference is being organised.

This conference seeks to congregate business leaders, private and public-sector stakeholders and regulators to discuss the role of technology as a catalyst and an enabler in furthering the ease of doing business Nigeria.

The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investments, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah will be the Chief Host. His Excellency, the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, who is also the Chairman of PEBEC, has graciously accepted to be the Special Guest of Honour on the day and would deliver the keynote address. Also invited as a Special Guest is the Honourable Minister of Communications, Dr Adebayo Shittu.

The ministers are expected to grace panel discussions facilitated by key stakeholders from the public and private sectors which will be centred on the following themes:

  • Taking Governance Online: Highlighting Key Initiatives in the Public Sector;
  • The Role of Payments Ecosystem in Doing Business in Nigeria; and
  • Towards an improved National Information Technology Infrastructure.

These panels present the opportunity to interact with government officials and regulators at the highest levels of the Federal Government, and proffer suggestions on how to extend the frontiers of technology as a catalyst for the ease of doing business.
