The Manage Director and founder of our law firm Mr. Antonis Karitzis and our advocate Mr. Zacharias Kapsis of the Shipping Department attended on 4 March 2020, the Shipping Deputy Ministry's Annual Review 2019, which took place in Limassol, Cyprus.

On the occasion of the two-year completion of the Shipping Deputy Ministry establishment, the Shipping Deputy Minister presented the annual report of the Ministry for 2019. More precisely, Mrs. Pilides referred to the action plan implemented by the Shipping Deputy Ministry focused on the pillars of the National Strategy for the further development of the Cypriot Shipping Sector.

Specifically, emphasis was put on efforts to ensure the competitiveness, the upgrade of provided services and the transition to the digital age, the promotion of Blue Growth as well as the improvement of safety levels and the protection of the environment.

Mrs. Pilides referred to the successful re-approval of the Cyprus Tonnage Tax System by the EU for another 10 years, with competitive advantages, including, amongst others, wider list of eligible vessels and ancillary activities. 

She also referred to the efforts to improve competitiveness of the Cyprus Registry by revising its pricing policy and simplifying ship registration procedures. Emphasis was also given to the successful organization of the international maritime conference "Maritime Cyprus" held last October, completing 30 years of presence in the field. Our firm successfully participated as an exhibitor in the aforementioned conference.
