ENSafrica will be holding a two-part webinar series on governance challenges facing state-owned enterprises in South Africa.

In the first of these webinars, Balindile Shezi, Nzame Qokweni, Pippa Reyburn and Witness Makhubele (all executives at ENSafrica who specialise in corporate governance and employment law), will provide insights into the following topics:

  • Compliance: challenges facing SOEs in relation to compliance with applicable governance legislation (such as Companies Act, empowering legislation, Memoranda of Incorporation (MOIs), Shareholder's Compacts, Public Finance Management Act, etc.)
  • Audit consequences: what you need to know about the recent amendments to the Public Audit Act allowing the Auditor-General to act against government departments and public entities when an audit identifies "material irregularities"
  • Senior executives: questions around who has the right to employ and dismiss senior executives
