Lawyers and teams from across Carey Olsen's Bermuda, British Virgin Islands (BVI) and Cayman Islands offices have been recognised in the 2021 edition of Legal 500 Caribbean.

A key industry guide, Legal 500 grades law firms following a thorough and independent research process, which includes interviews with clients and peers.In total, 15 of the firm's lawyers and 15 of its practice areas have been ranked in the 2021 guide.

Carey Olsen Bermuda is ranked as a firm across six practice areas, including dispute resolution where the team 'stands out above its competitors for its responsiveness, technical expertise and commercial awareness', with other sources describing the team as 'subject matter experts'. For trusts/private client the firm is described as 'outstanding', 'extremely responsive and attuned to the needs of their clients' and skilled 'in dealing both with technical trust matters and any court-related requirements'.

The other ranked practice areas for Bermuda comprise banking, finance and capital markets; corporate and commercial; insurance/reinsurance; and regulatory and compliance.

Individually, partner Keith Robinson is once again ranked as a Leading Individual in both the dispute resolution and trusts/private client categories, while corporate partners Mary Ward (banking, finance and capital markets) and Gavin Woods (insurance/reinsurance) are also ranked as Leading Individual. In addition, counsels Ashley Fife (trusts/private client), Kyle Masters (regulatory and compliance) and Henry Tucker (dispute resolution) are all ranked as Rising Stars.

For the BVI, Carey Olsen's dispute resolution team is commended for its 'excellent service' and 'very good attention to detail'. It is also praised for the 'seamless service' it provides between its London and BVI offices, with the team considered as the 'go-to firm for high value cross-border disputes'. The firm's other ranked practice areas for the BVI are banking, finance and capital markets; corporate and commercial; and regulatory and compliance.

Alex Hall Taylor QC, partner and head of the practice area in the BVI, is featured as a Leading Individual, while counsel Elizabeth Killeen is ranked as a Rising Star in both corporate and commercial, and regulatory and compliance.

Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands office is ranked in six categories, including trusts/private client where the firm has improved its ranking and is praised for its 'excellent lawyers', 'bench strength' and for 'being a pleasure to deal with'. Within the team Bernadette Carey is ranked as a Next Generation Partner, while counsel Graham Stoute is once again ranked as a Rising Star.
